  5. Then click Add Mail Account.

    Add Mail Account
  6. You'll then be asked to type in your name, email address, password and a name (description - which defaults to the email address) for your email account.

    New Account Details
  7. Once done, click Save and you're presented with another settings page. You'll see that you've already filled in the summary section, so now you'll need to fill in the incoming server information. So enter imap.johnlewisbroadband.com as the incoming server name and then your username (this is your email address) and your password again.

  8. Now it's time to enter the outgoing server information. This is quite similar, but make sure you use relay.johnlewisbroadband.com instead.

    Server information
  9. Once done, you should see all the details of the server settings that you've just entered. They should look a little bit like this. Then click on the save button".

  10. Your iPhone then needs a little time to apply your settings. You'll be presented with an SSL error, which you should say "Yes" to. You may get asked this more than once (once for each of incoming and outgoing servers), so don't worry if that happens.

  11. You should hopefully now see your new mail account in the main email accounts window.

  12. If things do go wrong, you'll need to go through all of the settings manually. The following screen shots show all of the settings required to get your iPhone working.

    Account information:

    Manual settings - account information
  13. Outbound server information

Manual settings - outbound server information
  14. John Lewis Broadband outgoing server settings

    IMAP advanced features
  15. Selecting the advanced options gives access to the IMAP advanced features which enable you to link the iPhone folders to the folders on your John Lewis Broadband mail server.

  16. Remember if you leave the settings on the iPhone to remove items from the server. They won't be available for downloading to your main computer, so in most cases, it'll be more practical to configure the iPhone so that it never removes anything from the server. You can then delete emails using your computer's email client or the John Lewis Broadband Webmail interface.
